Welcome Back!

Welcome Back to EMES!  This first day is going fast.  I have seen all the 5th and 6th grade classes and can't wait to see all my other EMES friends.  Many kids have already brought in their book bags from the summer (so if you are looking for me, you may need to dig through the green book bags.  I'm in there somewhere).

A few things are different with the library schedule this year and I know you will all hear about these changes from classroom teachers, but here comes my explanation anyway.
  • Preschool students will have library class with our amazing literacy teacher Mrs. Fich.  We will work closely together and at times I will be able to join my preschool friends and Mrs. Fitch.
  • K, 1st, and 2nd graders will see me twice a week for 20 minutes each time.  One meeting I will read a story to students.  The other meeting will be for students to select books.
  • 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will have 20 minute blocks to select books, educational technology classes in the library, and I will be working with students and their teachers regularly throughout the year to support the integration of research skills and technology into classroom instruction.  For example when 3rd graders are studying geography, I will work with both classes as they learn to use google earth to access real time geographic data.
Please stop in the library and check student and teacher responses to What Great Books did you Read this Summer?  You can also check out (and students can contrubute) to the EMES Reads Blog.

Happy School Year!
